NCAA College Football Thursday Oregon St Beavers at Stanford Cardinal Selection From Gamblers Television

From http://GamblersTelevision.com From our Rockstar Studio Tony T here from Gamblers Television covering College Football Vegas Style all season long. College Football Thursday Oregon St Beavers at Stanford Cardinal (+3) (6PM ET) (ESPN 2) Oregon St travels to Palo Alto to kick off the season with a Pac 10 Conference game with Stanford. Stanford gets Oregon St here at the right time. The Beavers are replacing their entire front 7 on defense. Oregon St usually starts slow and especially on the road. The Beavers are 0-6 straight up in their first road game in Mike Reilly's last 6 seasons as head coach. Junior quarterback Lyle Moevao gets the start with Sean Canfield backing him up and hopefully their revamped offensive line can give them blocking. These two QB's combined to lead the Pac 10 in interceptions the last season. The running back position is very inexperienced for the Beavers with two freshmen and a transfer in the backfield. Stanford beat USC and Cal last season and look for head coach Jim Harbaugh to have his Cardinal team sky high for this national TV appearance, which will help the program for recruiting purposes. Stanford needs this win with a road game at Arizona St and at TCU up next for Stanford. Take Stanford +3 Selection: Stanford +3

Wisconsin Badgers versus Florida St Seminoles College Football Odds and Pick Gamblers Television

From http://GamblersTelevision.com College Football Champs Sports Bowl Wisconsin Badgers versus Florida St Seminoles (O/U 52) Saturday December 27th (4:30PM ET) (ESPN) Wisconsin avoided a huge embarrassment by squeaking out a 36-35 overtime victory over Cal Poly at home. The Badgers gave up 276 rushing yards against this small time program. The Badgers defense really failed down the stretch as the team allowed 32 to a struggling Minnesota team on November 15th. The Seminoles will need to contain Badger running back P.J. Hill and John Clay who combine for nearly 1900 yards on the season. Junior Dustin Sherer has been an improvement over Allen Evridge for the Badgers at QB as Wisconsin has won 4 of 6 and has improved their offensive output. Florida St has improved offensively this season behind a strong running attack. The Seminoles gave up over 300 yards rushing to Florida and 288 to Georgia Tech so Wisconsin will have some success offensively behind the strength of their two running backs. Play this one over 52. Selection: OVER 52

Oregon Ducks versus Oklahoma St Cowboys College Football Odds and Pick Gamblers Television

From http://GamblersTelevision.com College Football Holiday Bowl Oregon Ducks at Oklahoma St Cowboys (O/U 76) December 30th (8PM ET) (ESPN) We have two strong offenses here who average 41 points per game. What an impressive close to the season for the Ducks. They put up 55 on Las Vegas Bowl winner Arizona and 65 at Sun Bowl participant Oregon St. Oregons two headed monster running the ball Jeremiah Johnson and LeGarrette Blount have exploded for 2000 combined yards rushing on the season. The Cowboys are balanced on offense and have the weapons to exploit the Ducks weak passing defense. Both defenses gave up nearly 400 yards per game and each offense averages nearly 500 in total yards. We will have a shootout in San Diego. Take Oregon and Oklahoma St over 76. Selection: OVER 76

Miami Hurricanes versus California Golden Bears College Football Odds and Pick Gamblers Television

From http://GamblersTelevision.com College Football Emerald Bowl Miami Hurricanes versus California Golden Bears (-7 1/2) Saturday December 27th (8PM ET) (ESPN) Miami makes the long trip to San Francisco to take on the California Golden Bears and it will be somewhat of a home game for Cal. Miami is a young team and will have their hands full trying to contain Cal star running back Jahvid Best. The sophomore running back rushed for 512 yards combined over his past 2 games and gained 112 rushing yards against the good Oregon St defense. Best struggled through some injuries but when he was 100% he exploded and may be a Heisman candidate at least by his senior season. In his 2 seasons at Cal Best averages 7.8 yards per attempt. Miami dropped their final two games of the season giving up 38 to NC State and 41 to Georgia Tech. Miami beat up on the really weak offensive teams on their schedule and were soundly beaten by good offensive teams. Cal was impressive covering a 9 ½ point spread in their big game against Stanford exploding in the second half back on November 22nd. Since they are in front of the home folks here the Golden Bears will be motivated in this spot. Take Cal 7 ½. Selection: Cal 7 1/2

Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Football Season Win Projection

From http://GamblersTelevision.com Tony T Breaks down NFL Pro Football and offers his season win selection on the Pittsburgh Steelers on this edition of Tony Ts Sports Bets airing now on Gamblers Television. The Pittsburgh Steelers won the AFC North last season with a 10-6 record but were eliminated in the playoffs by Jacksonville at home during wildcard weekend. The Steeler defense broke down during the final 5 games of last season by allowing an average of 29 points per game. Oddsmakers have set the projected season win total for the Steelers for the 2008 regular season at 9 wins. When you handicap season win totals you must, I mean must look at the schedule. Schedule: The Steelers have the toughest schedule in the NFL this season. 14 of their 16 opponents had winning records in 2007. Like the rest of the teams in their division the Steelers face the NFC East but must travel to the weakest teams in Washington and Philadelphia. They host both Dallas and the NY Giants. As division winners last season they must face first place San Diego and New England while the other 3 teams in their division wont face them. Two Monday night games are scheduled meaning a short week to prepare when facing Jacksonville and Indianapolis. How is this for scheduling from November 9th to December 7th they got in succession Indy, San Diego, Cincinnati, New England and Dallas. The Steelers need to get a good start to the season because wins late will be harder to come by. Offense: Big Ben Roethlisberger is coming off his first pro bowl season as he passed for 32 touchdowns last season. The Steelers locked up their starting quarterback by giving him at $102 million dollar contract for the next 8 years. The offensive line must do a better job of protecting him as Big Ben was sacked 47 times last season. They will be without Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca who was lost through free agency. Running back Willie Parker had a good season rushing for over 1300 yards last season. He suffered a broken leg, which forced the talented runner to miss the last two games of the season. Parker showed no ill effect of the injury during mini camps. The Steelers added depth at the running back position by drafting Rashard Mendenhall in the first round. Hines Wards lead a talented receiving corps and a new addition will be 6-4 Limas Sweed who was drafted in the second round out of Texas. The Steelers added size in their receiving corps and will help them in critical third down plays as well as red zone throws. Heath Miller returns at tight end and his 6-5 height contributed to 7 touchdown receptions last season. The Steelers have talented playmakers on offense. 10 of 11 starters return for the Steelers potent offense from last season. The Steelers will put up plenty of points in 2008. Defense: Pittsburgh returns 10 starters from the #1 total defense from last season. Safety Troy Polamalu was stricken with a knee injury in 2007 that forced the talented safety to miss games. Polamalu could return to his good form with a healthy 2008 and makes a huge impact for the Steelers. I felt Polamalu's health was part of the cause for the Steelers defensive breakdown late last season. They run the 3-4 and have a talented down lineman who can stop the run and set up plays for their linebackers. The defense also does a good job of creating turnovers. And now to my Selection: The Pittsburgh Steelers are loaded with talent on the offensive side of the ball. With Mendenhall coming in the draft it sets up 4th quarter situations where the Steelers can run out the clock on the ground with two good backs and will set up play action in the most critical points of the game. I think for this reason the Steelers have a good shot at sweeping the Bengals and Browns again because neither possesses a good defense. The Steelers will go 5-1 in the division this season and we need to find 5 more wins to get to 10. With the NY Giants getting a bit weaker on defense they will go 3-1 against the NFC East this season. They have Houston at home in week 1 which is a winnable game. We just need 1 win against the Colts, Chargers, Patriots, Titans or Jaguars to get to 10. With a really tough schedule this Steeler team will get to 10 wins. This team has 13-3 or 14-2 talent but with this difficult schedule will go 10-6. Play Pittsburgh over 9 wins this season. Play OVER 9 wins for the 2008 season. Selection: Over 9 wins in 2008 Regular Season. Be sure to visit and bookmark my TV Show page at www.GamblersTelevision.com for continues pointspread coverage from the NFL.

Indianapolis Colts at San Diego Chargers NFL Football Playoffs Odds and Pick from Gamblers Television

From http://GamblersTelevision.com Pro Football AFC Wildcard Playoff Saturday Indianapolis Colts at San Diego Chargers (+1) (8PM ET) (NBC) San Diego qualified in the playoffs as AFC West Champions going 8-8 and 5-1 against a weak AFC West Division. San Diego in their 4 game winning streak to close the season beat Oakland, Kansas City and Denver from their division. And in week 16 they traveled to Tampa Bay and played a team whos wheels completely fell off on the defensive end. So winning 4 in a row was impressive but none of those wins came against playoff teams. An injury concern for the Chargers as Ladainian Tomlinson is sporting a sore groin and may not be 100% on Sunday. LT only averaged 3.8 yards per attempt this season and when he was nicked up earlier in the season LT averaged less than 3 yards per attempt. Indy has a very strong pass defense ranking 5th in the league giving up 188 yards per game. The Chargers will need to have some success on the ground and LT may not deliver not being 100% in this game. The Colts are hot winners of 9 in a row beating 3 playoff teams in that span. Peyton Manning during that span has passed for 17 TDs with only 3 picks. And the Colts pass defense allowed only 3 passing touchdowns during that span. The Chargers have issues getting pressure on the quarterback and Peyton Manning will have time in the pocket to work those weak Chargers safeties and pass defense that allows nearly 250 yards on the season. The Colts went 5-1 against playoff teams and San Diego 0-5 straight up against playoff teams this season. The game comes down to Indy making more stops than the Chargers. Take Indy 1. Selection: Indianapolis -1

College Football Week 1: Pro Handicappers discuss betting strategies for week 1 and week 2

http://www.sbrforum.com - A brand new season of college football begins tonight and what better way to get things rolling that with some capping input from SBR's Peter Loshak and Justin7. Week 1 in college football is known for being both a heady and treacherous time for bettors and books alike. All the unknowns that each new college season brings have bettors searching for mispriced lines while also guarding against overreacting to possibly incomplete information, and sportsbooks guarding against taking a beating from sharps while simultaneously enjoying the flood of action. There are various approaches to handicapping and betting Week 1 of college football, most with some merit. Some cappers narrow their focus to a limited number of teams, looking to gain an edge through early and thorough research. Others follow general rules of thumb such as fading ranked teams or teams starting young QBs, or betting on teams with key returning starters, a new coach, or experienced offensive and/or defensive lines. Still others lay off of Week 1 completely. Whatever the approach, its clear that capping the early weeks of the season is a different animal from capping the rest of the season, and that both great betting opportunities and dangerous traps abound in Week 1. SBRs own Justin7, a widely acknowledged college football handicapping expert who uses a quantitative approach to line valuation, discusses these issues with SBR.tvs Peter Loshak.
