Sports Nutrition-Rate Your Plate to S.C.O.R.E
On November 12, 2008, more than 25 coaches and trainers attended the session where WINForum Western Washington Coordinator, Emily Edison MS, RD, and UW Medicine Sports Medicine physician, Brian Krabak MD offered advice on Rating Your Plate for healthy foods that provide fuel for the body to perform at its best. The WINForum meeting was conducted on the UW campus where participants learned about the value of balanced nutrition and enjoyed a healthy lunch from the UW Athletics training table. Edison and Krabak developed the S.C.O.R.E. rating system as a method of rating your plate for proper nutritional value. S.C.O.R.E. combines the importance of the food guidance pyramid, encouraging athletes to incorporate nutrient rich foods like fruits, vegetables, dairy, lean meats, and grains into their daily meal plan.
