MPIF 2010 Combine

HIGH SCHOOL COMBINE: WHAT IS IT EXACTLY? WHY? •For almost two decades, NCAA Division 1 and 1AA schools have neglected this region in terms of football recruiting. Only 7 NCAA schools visited AISD coaches in the spring of 2008. It is simply more economical for a coach to visit DFW, Houston, or San Antonio and see dozens of recruits in the same day simply due to the proximity of high schools and the population base. It isn't economically feasible for schools to devote much in-person time to this area. •Thus, it is remarkable that players like Evander Hood and Julius Crosslin from Palo Duro, Caleb Campbell from Perryton, Jamar Wall from Plainview, and Derek Mendoza and Cody Hodges from Hereford were able to achieve success at the Division 1 level over the past decade. Players in this part of the country don't "get found". Those days are over, and have been for almost 20 years. COMBINE •I bring in former NFL, CFL, and College Football standouts at each individual position group to work with and evaluate the camp participants. Karl Mecklenburg, Willie Roaf, Aaron Taylor, Bubba McDowell, Tony Tillmon, Chris Perry, Devin Lemons, etc. •We evaluate each athlete in the standard NFL combine testing stations: 40, short shuttle, vertical leap, broad jump, bench press reps, and true height/weight. •We evaluate each athlete in position-specific drills on the field, including one-on-one and seven-on-seven non-contact competitions. •I take the testing results and the written evaluation on EVERY player and send it to all 848 schools in the U.S. It goes to every Head Coach, every Offensive Coordinator, every Defensive Coordinator, and every Recruiting coordinator in the nation. The sheet provides those coaches with everything they need in terms of background information on a player, including parental contact information, academic scores, head coach contact information, combine testing data, and a written evaluation on that player by their position coach (who played that position at the college and pro levels). Essentially, all they have to do is ask for film on the players that they are interested in. All the legwork is done for the university in advance. SEMINAR •I bring in a keynote speaker who delivers a powerful message relative to life issues and playing football at the next level. •I educate and empower parents and athletes on the proper steps towards receiving clearance by the NCAA to participate in college football, including ACT/SAT info, resume building, production of highlight video, etc. •I educate parents and athletes on which college summer camps to attend in order to achieve their personal goals while actually being evaluated.
