The Lebanon Pioneers and the Gate City Blue Devils travelled to Wise, Virginia on November 28, 2009 to play in the Region D Division 2 Championship game. Lebanon came into the game with a 7-4 record while Gate City came in with a 10-1 record. Lebanon and Gate City had met earlier in the season, with Gate City winning that game 13-7. Lebanon took revenge in this game, handing the Blue Devils a 21-12 loss.

Longview vs Sulphur Springs, 2009, KLTV Highlights
The Sulphur Springs Wildcats had not lost a game in 15 straight. They were 5-0 on the year, and ranked 3rd in the state. Fresh off a 4A DII State Championship, they were looking for revenge against the Lobos' 2008 victory over the Wildcats. But the battle of the streaks went to the Lobos, and it wasn't even close. The Longview Lobos ran out to a 28-0 lead at the half and never looked back as they knocked off Sulphur Springs 45-0. The win gave Longview 27th straight home victories and 30 consecutive district wins.
